Plants and people

The Normandy site, which combines the efficiency of its production tools with that of its skilled and daily-informed staff, is the current hub of the company’s growth.

Mortain: ACOME’s shock force!

With 115,000 m² of buildings housing the entire production process, ACOME’s industrial site in Normandy is currently one of the largest in Europe. The site’s 42 hectares houses the company’s production and R&D facilities.
A total of 1,200 men and women unite their skills in the pursuit of innovation, lasting competitiveness and corporate sustainability.

Extremely efficient equipment

Since its creation in 1932, ACOME has demonstrated its leadership in the following fields:

  • Metallurgy and copper drawing,
  • Plasturgy, polymer compounding and extrusion,
  • Electrophysical cross-linking of polymers,
  • Optical fibre,
  • Production-level expertise in controls and measurement tools

The Normandy site has achieved this by installing extremely efficient equipment and the latest processes such as automatically-controlled very high speed insulation, wiring and sheathing production lines with integrated quality controls.

Production cells: central to production

Whether a researcher, engineer, technician or line worker, the highly-committed ACOME employee is the main factor in the site’s efficient operation. Each production unit’s operation is organised into production cells whose production requirements are updated daily, ensuring that the effectiveness and efficiency of each team and machine is optimised. Each team prioritises its own work according to its cell’s production, in collaboration with the logistician and the Quality Manager, to ensure that production schedules are met.

This ensures that each employee is informed of his or her unit’s progress at each stage of the production process and so uses the necessary resources in meeting deadlines and, ultimately, ensuring customer satisfaction.
