ACOME Group launches its QR DRUM solution

Telecom networks and FTTH
Wednesday 15 January 2025
ACOME Group launches an innovative service that improves the logistical, economic and ecological performance of your cable deployments.

Every day, broadband companies waste on average 10% of the full fibre cable they deploy.

ACOME has launched its QR Drum to significantly reduce the amount of expensive optical fibre by making it easier for network builders and logistics teams to track and manage cable supply.

QR Drum assigns a QR code to each cable drum to act as its digital twin, keeping a record of cable lengths, locations, and history – saving up to 5% on cable costs.

ACOME and Sumitomo Electric have developed a new hybrid solution that allows network operators to deploy a single universal cable that supports both current and future network needs. Upgrading to 800G and above requires fewer repeaters to amplify the optical signals and can also avoid the need for signal regeneration.
